According to the
results of a new research conducted by financial services company Scottish
Widows, almost one in ten women keeps savings a secret from their partners.
The study found
that Midlands ladies topped the poll for
squirreling their secret savings away, whereas, the upright ladies from the
East proved they are the most honest when it comes to disclosing their savings.
Scottish Widows says the principle of the ‘older the wiser’ apply as the over
35s group are the most secretive, with nearly a third (32%) admitting to
concealing their savings.
However, the bank
also pointed out that the future isn’t rose for over one and a half million
secret women savers in the UK.
About 28% of women admit that they only plan their financial security on a
daily, weekly or monthly basis, and nearly a quarter (22%) admits they are
worried and pessimistic about their financial future. In addition, about 64% of
women admit to not being financially prepared for the future, heightening their
vulnerability to poverty in later life.
