Survey discovers secret savings behavior of British women

According to the results of a new research conducted by financial services company Scottish Widows, almost one in ten women keeps savings a secret from their partners.

The study found that Midlands ladies topped the poll for squirreling their secret savings away, whereas, the upright ladies from the East proved they are the most honest when it comes to disclosing their savings. Scottish Widows says the principle of the ‘older the wiser’ apply as the over 35s group are the most secretive, with nearly a third (32%) admitting to concealing their savings.

However, the bank also pointed out that the future isn’t rose for over one and a half million secret women savers in the UK. About 28% of women admit that they only plan their financial security on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, and nearly a quarter (22%) admits they are worried and pessimistic about their financial future. In addition, about 64% of women admit to not being financially prepared for the future, heightening their vulnerability to poverty in later life.
