ISPreview polls readers on broadband data consumption

Aug 23, 2006

Broadband news provider ISPreview has announced the results of a survey that examines the amount of data (in GB) consumed by its readers per month (on average).

With a total of 1,492 respondents, the website found that a few of its readers (13%) do not know how much data they consume. ISPreview says this finding is a good thing since understanding one’s usage allows you to make a more accurate package choice. The rest of the results follow a reasonably level split between the different data use groupings, with very few readers (6%) consuming up to 1GB per month. Despite that, the 1 to 5GB "light" usage range proved quite popular with 18% of the vote. Meanwhile, 29% consumed more than 40GBs, which would put them in the "heavy users" bracket with most providers. Surprisingly, usage between 20GB and 40GBs was less common (13%) than expected, ISPreview added.
